As a first responder, you have a high risk of experiencing a work-related injury. No matter what your injury is, our skilled and knowledgeable physical therapists at IMPACT Physical Therapy & Sports Recovery are here to help! We will design an individualized treatment plan to get you back to optimal health so you can return safely to your job.

What to Expect at Work Comp Physical Therapy Appointment

We understand that each officer, EMT, emergency responder, etc., has different physical tasks required to perform their job.  When being treated at one of our clinics, from your first treatment session, you and your physical therapist will discuss your job requirements to understand exactly what you need to physically perform your tasks.

We will then create your personalized physical therapy program to include manual techniques such as soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, or Augmented Soft Tissue Manipulation (ASTYM) to help improve tissue function and decrease pain.  We will prescribe exercises aimed to improve flexibility, mobility, and gain strength.  We will also simulate job specific scenarios to give you the confidence to return to your area of work.

Additionally, we understand that your job involves a cardiovascular component and that when you are off work due to an injury or surgery, your cardiovascular endurance is significantly impacted.  Your treatment plan will include a cardiovascular element to ensure your cardiovascular endurance is not compromised so you can easily shift back into your role.

Work Conditioning Program at IMPACT Physical Therapy & Sports Recovery

When you are out of work for a prolonged period, you may need to transition from physical therapy to a Work Conditioning Program.  In this program, you will spend a few weeks with a physical therapist focusing on maximizing your strength, improving your confidence, and simulating job tasks to ensure a safe return to work for you and your coworkers.
